Tragedy struck in Karauka community, Zaria, on Wednesday, as a mud wall collapse killed a woman and three of her children during heavy rainfall. The victims, identified as Mallama Habiba Nuhu, her daughters Hauwa'u Nuhu and Aina'u Nuhu, and her granddaughter Za'uma, died instantly due to the rubble.
A relative, Malam Ahmed Ibrahim, reported that the incident occurred between 3:30 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. The family's head, Mallam Nuhu Dogara, was rescued and hospitalized, but fortunately, he was discharged in time to attend the burial.
Bello Garba, Zone 1 Coordinator of the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), assured that an immediate assessment would be carried out, despite not being officially notified of the incident.
The community buried the deceased according to Islamic rites. This tragic event highlights the importance of ensuring the structural integrity of buildings, especially in areas prone to heavy rainfall.
