Bawa Mokwa, spokesman for the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, made this known in a statement on Friday.
The federal government had commenced payment of the second tranche of the outstanding arrears on Thursday, following an initial payment of one month's arrears.
According to Mokwa, the government will continue to pay the wage award in instalments of N35,000 per month until the outstanding arrears are exhausted.
This development comes amid concerns raised by civil servants over the delay in payment of the wage award arrears.
Some civil servants in Abuja expressed their frustrations, urging the government to clear the outstanding arrears rather than paying monthly.
Uche Anune, a civil servant, noted that the government should not wait until workers feel agitated before taking action.
Joseph Edeh, another civil servant, called on the government to pay the remaining four months' arrears at once, stating that the delay had cast doubts on the government's sincerity.
Franca Ofili urged the federal government to fulfill its promise and alleviate the burden of expectation for civil servants.
The federal government's commitment to clearing the outstanding arrears is expected to bring relief to civil servants who have been awaiting payment.
