Abuja-Kaduna Train Service to Get Back on Track Next Week – NRC

The Nigerian Railway Corporation has announced that the Abuja–Kaduna passenger train service will resume operations next week. This follows the completion of repairs and safety checks on the affected section of the track at Asham, where a derailment occurred along the Kaduna corridor. The incident happened shortly after the train departed Abuja at around 11 am en route to Kaduna.

The corporation stated that further details regarding the official resumption date and schedule will be communicated in the coming days. Since the temporary suspension of the service after the derailment on August 26, 2025, efforts have been made to restore both the infrastructure and rolling stock to the highest safety standards in line with global best practices.

As part of its commitment to passenger welfare, refunds have been processed for 512 out of the 583 passengers on board the affected train. Efforts are ongoing to reach and refund the remaining passengers to ensure no one is left behind.

The NRC expressed appreciation for the patience and understanding of passengers and reassured the public that safety, comfort, and satisfaction remain top priorities. The corporation also acknowledged the support of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, security agencies, the media, and other stakeholders during the recovery period.
