Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has taken a significant step to improve the welfare of health workers by approving the full implementation of the 2024 Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS). This decision, which takes immediate effect, ensures a 100% salary upgrade for various categories of health professionals in the state.
The announcement was made official through a circular issued on October 2, 2025, and signed by the Head of Service, Dame Theodora Okwy Igwegbe (mni). The directive covers a wide range of health workers, including nurses, nurse anaesthetists, psychiatric nurses, community health technicians, dental therapists, medical laboratory scientists and technicians, pharmacy technicians, radiographers, and physiotherapists.
The governor’s directive applies to all eligible staff across Anambra’s health sector, whether employed by the state or local governments. To ensure swift compliance, the circular mandates all relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), the Local Government Service Commission, and the state and local government accountants-general to implement the salary adjustment without delay.
This move is expected to boost morale among health workers, enhance service delivery, and contribute to a more robust healthcare system in Anambra State. Governor Soludo’s administration continues to prioritize the welfare of public sector workers, particularly those in critical sectors like healthcare.
