Eyewitnesses described the attackers as heavily armed and operating with impunity. One of the survivors recounted his narrow escape, stating that the bandits blocked the highway and kidnapped many people. Some managed to flee into the bush, while others hid in farms with tall crops to escape.
The survivor also confirmed the death of his colleague, who was killed after refusing to be taken by the armed men. The victim was shot on the spot for resisting.
Efforts to reach the Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
