Meanwhile, terrorists attacked Gebbe community in Shanga Local Government Area of Kebbi State, killing eight and injuring others.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, stated that the Zamfara operation significantly degraded bandit networks, particularly their capacity to manufacture improvised explosive devices. The strikes destroyed key structures and neutralized bandits, crippling their operational capabilities.
In Sokoto, an Army source confirmed collaboration with US forces to target terrorist camps in Bauni Forest, near Waria and Alkassim villages, on December 25. Follow-up patrols confirmed extensive destruction of terrorist positions. Debris from unmanned aerial devices and missile components were recovered in Kajiji Town, Tambuwal LGA, with investigations ongoing.
In Kebbi, gunmen attacked Kaiwa, Gelawu, and Gebbe villages, killing eight and causing mass displacement. Police spokesperson Bashir Usman confirmed intensified patrols to prevent further attacks.
Separately, Nigerian Army troops killed over 80 terrorists, rescued 34 kidnapped civilians, and arrested dozens in multi-state operations between December 25 and 29. Successes were recorded in Borno, Adamawa, Sokoto, Katsina, Niger, Zamfara, Plateau, Delta, Cross River, and the FCT.
In Kwara, over 40 gunmen attacked Owa-Onire in Ifelodun LGA, killing one, abducting two, and injuring others. The community has been deserted due to fear of further attacks. The kidnappers demanded a ransom for the abducted victims.
