Revenge Attack: Bandits Slap ₦8M Fine on Zamfara Village Over Leader’s Death

Bandits have imposed an ₦8 million levy on Kaya village in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, threatening residents in what appears to be retaliation for the killing of a notorious bandit commander. The demand has sparked fear and uncertainty in the community, with residents denying any involvement in the operation that led to the death of the bandit leader, Isuhu Buzu.

The levy is seen as collective punishment against civilians, who insist they had no connection to the joint operation by the Zamfara State Community Protection Guard and the Civilian Joint Task Force. A security expert noted the community’s distress, emphasizing that innocent people should not suffer for counterterrorism efforts.

Tensions are high, with residents fearing violent reprisals, loss of lives, and property destruction if the demand is unmet. Community leaders have urgently appealed to the Zamfara State Government and security agencies to intervene by deploying more personnel, increasing patrols, and securing the area to prevent further attacks.
