Muhammad Mahmud Dantawasa, the State Commissioner for Information and Culture, announced the approval in a statement. He explained that the decision was made during the Executive Council meeting at the Government House in Gusau. The project is part of the government’s effort to modernize state-owned media and improve public access to information.
The contract for supplying modern broadcasting equipment was awarded to ECALPEMOS Technologies, a firm with expertise in broadcast technology. The project is expected to be completed within 90 days, with the new equipment aimed at boosting the station’s operational capacity, signal reach, and overall broadcast quality.
The Council highlighted that the upgrade will help rural communities receive timely and accurate information while supporting government policies, public education, and socio-economic development.
Governor Dauda Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to leveraging the media for transparency and public engagement, ensuring all projects follow due process and international standards.
