Adamawa Governor Fintiri Switches to APC, Citing Development Goals

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the People's Democratic Party (PDP). This move is seen as a strategic decision to fast-track development and act in the best interest of Adamawa State. Fintiri announced his defection in a statewide broadcast, stating that his cabinet and PDP officials in the state have joined him in the move.

The defection has extreme implications for the state's politics, with 15 PDP lawmakers already having defected to the APC, giving the party a majority in the State Assembly. Fintiri's move also leaves the PDP with only three remaining governors: Bala Muhammad (Bauchi), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara) .

The governor's decision is reportedly driven by a desire to align with progressive forces and deliver sustainable progress for Adamawa State. He has pledged to support President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to drive transformative change in social welfare, infrastructure, housing, and economic development.
