The discussion comes as notable politicians, including state governors like Abba Yusuf of Kano, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, and Agbu Kefas of Taraba, have left their former parties to join the ruling APC. Despite this trend, Na’Allah emphasized that winning elections isn’t just about adding more names to the party’s roster. Instead, he argued that the APC must focus on governance and effectively communicating its vision to the public.
“The party needs to genuinely persuade Nigerians that the challenges they’re facing now are part of a necessary process to build a stronger future,” Na’Allah said. He expressed strong confidence in the APC’s founding principles, stating, “No other party was created with better intentions for Nigeria than the APC—I can say that without hesitation.”
Reflecting on the APC’s origins, Na’Allah pointed out that the party emerged as an alternative to the then-dominant Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He recalled how a small group of members believed the PDP’s long rule had failed to reassure Nigerians that the country was in capable hands.
Regarding the recent defections, Na’Allah noted that the true measure of success would be how these politicians perform in their respective states. “When leaders in positions of authority defect, their ability to deliver results for their people will ultimately determine whether they can rally support for the party,” he explained.
