Accompanied by the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Abel O. Eniitan, and Directors, Dr. Alausa highlighted rollover provisions to ensure continuity of critical education projects. He underscored priorities including teacher recruitment and retention, infrastructure upgrades, research capacity, digital learning access, and safe school environments.
The Minister noted a shortage of over 3,500 teachers in Federal Unity Colleges, particularly in STEMM subjects, and outlined structured recruitment and training strategies. The budget allocates ₦966.9 billion to universities, ₦382 billion to polytechnics and colleges of education, ₦633.3 billion to parastatals, ₦155 billion to Unity Colleges, and ₦10.3 billion for international commitments. Expansion of TVET aims to equip over five million youths with employable and entrepreneurial skills.
Dr. Alausa emphasised that the 2026–2028 deliverables align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Education Sector Roadmap, committing the Ministry to accountability, efficiency, and measurable impact in all projects.
