A youth political group, Gaya Youth Democracy Supporters, has dismissed claims that Governor Abba Yusuf issued a nomination form to Hon. Ghali Panda, describing the allegation as “false, baseless and misleading.”
In a statement signed by its secretary, Musa Adamu Gaya, the group urged the public and party members to disregard what it called propaganda aimed at distorting the candidate selection process.
The rebuttal follows reports circulated by supporters of Panda, alleging that he had secured the governor’s endorsement through the issuance of a nomination form.
However, the group maintained that the claim contradicts the outcome of a stakeholders’ consensus meeting involving Ajingi, Gaya and Albasu local government areas, held at the Kano State Government House.
A breakdown of the results showed that Hon Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya polled all 19 votes in Gaya Local Government, 10 out of 17 votes in Ajingi, and 4 out of 19 votes in Albasu.
According to the statement, a total of 55 votes were recorded during the meeting, with Hon. Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya emerging as the leading candidate after securing 33 votes.
“The outcome of the meeting represents a collective and legitimate decision reached by party leaders and critical stakeholders in attendance,” the statement said.
It added that any claim suggesting the nomination of Ghali Panda was “null, misleading and without foundation.
The group also referenced provisions of the 2026 Electoral Act, noting that only direct primaries and consensus arrangements are recognised methods for candidate nomination. It stressed that the indirect primary system, previously used in party processes, is no longer valid under the law.
