In an audio message released on Sallah day, Shehu Bakauye said he joined millions of Muslims on Arafah day in asking Allah (s.w.t) to accept our ibadat and sacrifices offered during the period. He noted that it was a blessing to be celebrating the festival in good health and called on residents to use the moment to seek lasting peace and prosperity for Zamfara. Engineer, said the spirit of Eid should remind everyone of the importance of sacrifice, unity, and looking out for one another, especially in a time when many families are struggling.
Beyond the prayers and goodwill, Ibrahim Shehu Bakauye used the opportunity to speak directly to the political situation in the state. He called on the people of Zamfara to obtain their permanent voter cards now so they would be ready when the 2027 elections arrive. For those who already have their cards, he stressed the need to keep them safe and avoid misplacing them, saying that the card remains the strongest tool citizens have to decide the future of their state.
He appealed to residents to prepare for a change in government, arguing that the current administration has had four years to address the state challenges but has failed to deliver on security and the welfare of the people. According to him, instead of improving lives, the government has left many citizens in a state of hardship and uncertainty. He said Zamfara cannot afford another cycle of disappointment and that the time has come to choose leaders who will prioritize peace, create an environment where businesses can thrive, and work for sustainable prosperity.
Bakauye linked the message of Eid to the need for responsible leadership, saying that just as the festival teaches sacrifice and devotion, public office should be about sacrifice for the people. He maintained that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state has not shown the commitment required to end insecurity or improve living standards, and that voting for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the next election offers a chance to reset the state direction.
He concluded his message with prayers for security across Zamfara and for economic stability that would allow families to plan for the future without fear. He said the people deserve a government that listens, acts quickly on security threats, and invests in programs that create jobs and support small businesses.
The PDP candidate ended with a simple greeting to the people: Happy Eid El Kabir. He said he hoped the celebration would bring renewed hope and that the lessons of the season would guide both leaders and citizens as they work toward a better Zamfara.
