The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected Governor Ademola Adeleke's alleged plan to defect to the party, labeling him a "trojan horse" and a "liability."
The APC's statement comes after the Osun State PDP Leadership Caucus, led by Governor Adeleke, accused the APC of resisting the governor's planned defection.
The APC claimed that Governor Adeleke's defection bid was motivated by his fear of losing the 2026 election. The party stated that it rejected Adeleke's overtures due to his administration's alleged corruption, mismanagement of funds, and poor governance.
The APC cited several reasons for rejecting Adeleke's defection, including:
- Alleged mismanagement of over N1 trillion in 30 months
- Purchase of luxury cars for aides and politicians while neglecting public transport
- Failure to address the plight of over 32,000 job applicants who were allegedly duped by the state government
- Alleged involvement in the murder of APC members and supporters
The APC concluded that Governor Adeleke's defection bid was deceptive and aimed at escaping accountability for his administration's actions. The party vowed to reject any attempt by Adeleke to join the APC, citing his alleged corrupt practices and poor governance record.
