The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has appealed to employers of corps members to provide financial support for their transportation and accommodation. The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, made the call during the 2025 NYSC/Corps Employers' Workshop in Bauchi.
Nafiu emphasized that employers' support is crucial for corps members to deliver effective service. He explained that providing comfortable accommodation or paying in lieu of accommodation would motivate corps members to perform better.
The Director General highlighted the roles of corps employers, including providing accommodation, transportation allowance, healthcare, and a healthy working environment. He urged participants to recommend steps to build a proactive partnership between the NYSC and corps employers.
The Bauchi State Coordinator of NYSC, Umoren Kufre, noted that the NYSC aims to foster mutual growth and development through partnerships with corps employers. He emphasized the importance of strengthening these partnerships to empower corps members and enhance their effectiveness in the labor market.
The workshop's theme, "Strengthening NYSC/Corps Employers' Partnership for Improved Mutual Benefit," reflects the NYSC's commitment to collaboration and mutual growth.
