National Vice Chairman (South-East) of the NNPP, Prince Nweze Onu, attributed the rumors to social media misinformation and "artificial intelligence mischief."
Onu clarified that Kwankwaso's recent visit to the Presidential Villa was for a program and not a meeting to discuss defection. He emphasized that Kwankwaso's appearance with President Bola Tinubu was coincidental, as the program was held at the Villa.
However, Kwankwaso's statement after the meeting has sparked speculation about a possible alliance between him and Tinubu. When asked about his discussion with the president, Kwankwaso said, "I might work with Tinubu."
Onu downplayed the significance of this statement, insisting that Kwankwaso remains committed to the NNPP and will likely run for president again in 2027.
Onu also addressed Kwankwaso's continued criticism of the government, saying it is a deliberate attempt to hold the president accountable. He claimed that the APC is panicking and desperate to poach Kwankwaso, but ultimately, it is the APC that is "pushing themselves into depression" with their actions.
