According to Sani Suleiman, an indigene of the village, the bandits had kidnapped 53 people and demanded ₦1 million from each captive. Only 18 victims who paid the ransom were released, while the remaining 35 were slaughtered.
Suleiman stated that the released victims witnessed the killing of their fellow captives and that the village is currently under bandits' control. He appealed to the state government to deploy security personnel to the area to prevent further attacks.
The Special Adviser to Governor Dauda Lawal on security matters, Ahmed Danmanga, confirmed the incident but did not provide the exact number of casualties. He stated that mobile police have been deployed to the village to prevent further attacks and that the state government is working to ensure maximum protection for its citizens.
