El-Rufai, speaking on Channels Television's Sunday Politics, denied orchestrating the disruption, calling such suggestions "stupid." He claimed that police officers on duty provided cover for the attackers.
"The police were there, and they knew what happened. They provided cover for the thugs, which means the thugs were government-sponsored," el-Rufai alleged.
He directly blamed the state government for the violence, vowing to submit evidence to the Police Service Commission and the Inspector General of Police.
The attack occurred during the inauguration of an opposition transition committee in Kaduna, leaving several people injured and damaging vehicles. El-Rufai plans to file a petition with the Inspector General of Police over the incident.
