JUST IN: Finland Court Jails Simon Ekpa 6 Years for Terrorism, Tax Fraud

A Finnish court has convicted Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed leader of the Biafran movement, of terrorism offenses and tax fraud, sentencing him to six years in prison.

The Päijät-Häme District Court found Ekpa guilty of inciting terrorism, participating in terrorist activities, aggravated tax fraud, and violating the Attorneys Act. According to the court, Ekpa promoted the independence of Biafra through illegal means between 2021 and 2024.

The court stated that Ekpa used social media to build influence while supporting designated terrorist organizations. He allegedly established armed groups, supplied weapons, and encouraged followers to commit crimes in Nigeria.

This conviction marks a significant ruling in Finland involving terrorism-related offenses linked to Nigeria.
