The Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has criticized corrupt public office holders for lacking proper values and upbringing.
Speaking during an interview on Channels TV's "Politics Today" program, Sanusi emphasized the importance of honesty, integrity, and selfless service in public office.
He lamented that many public office holders prioritize personal enrichment over serving the public, and attributed this to a lack of proper upbringing and values.
Sanusi also criticized Nigeria's eroded value system, stating that the country has been ruled by people who prioritize material wealth over integrity and legacy.
He called for a regeneration of values, emphasizing the need for religious leaders, traditional rulers, and citizens to promote and uphold integrity, honesty, and selfless service.
