The author described the current economic situation as "terrible" and questioned how individuals earning minimum wage are managing to survive. "I'm not concerned about the stock market or economic indicators. What matters to me is the well-being of ordinary people."
Adichie warned that prolonged economic hardship could lead people to consider desperate measures, emphasizing that this is not an excuse for crime but rather a concern for the well-being of society.
"It's essential to acknowledge the struggles faced by Nigerians and work towards creating a more equitable society," Adichie concluded.
