Northern CAN Urges Christians to Register for 2027 Elections

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has urged Christians to participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement, CAN Chairman Rev. Yakubu Pam described the CVR as "timely and crucial," emphasizing that voter registration is the first step towards obtaining a Permanent Voter's Card (PVC) and effective participation in the democratic process.

Rev. Pam encouraged Christians of voting age, particularly those who have not previously registered or have relocated, to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He stressed that good governance requires deliberate participation and warned that silence or indifference can empower the wrong forces to control the nation's destiny.

CAN also called on churches, Christian organizations, and community leaders to mobilize their members and ensure that no eligible Christian is left behind in the voter registration exercise.

The statement emphasized that the 2027 general elections will be a defining moment for Nigeria, and urged Christians not to miss the opportunity to make a lasting impact.
