Too Much Rush, Too Little Strategy: Lamido's Warning to ADC

Sule Lamido, former Governor of Jigawa State, has advised presidential aspirants in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to adopt a more measured approach in their bid for the 2027 presidency. Speaking on Arise Television's Prime Time programme, Lamido described the ADC as a party with "too many sprinters" who need to slow down.

Lamido, who remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasized the importance of a strategic approach, urging the ADC hopefuls to focus on building connections with the people and developing a winning strategy. "Let them look inward and keep connecting with people quietly...they should slow down and look at issues in a deeper way," he said.

The former governor's comments come amid the ongoing debate about the 2027 presidential election, with several ADC leaders, including former Governor Rotimi Amaechi, declaring their interest in the presidency. Lamido's advice is seen as a call for caution and strategic planning in the face of the ruling APC's expected strong challenge.

Lamido also reiterated his commitment to the PDP, stating that he cannot abandon a "big party" for a smaller one. His comments have sparked interest in the ongoing political landscape, with many awaiting the outcome of the 2027 presidential election.
