The initiative is a result of a partnership between the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the Digital Learning Network.
The devices will come with free data access, and the project will be implemented at no cost to the federal or state governments.
According to UBEC Executive Secretary, Aisha Garba, the devices will give pupils and teachers access to digital textbooks, interactive learning materials, and virtual classrooms, ultimately enhancing teaching and learning outcomes.
The government plans to roll out training programs to strengthen teachers' capacity in digital teaching methods.
This initiative aligns with the Federal Government's vision of integrating technology into the education system and preparing Nigerian children for the global knowledge economy.
The government has also committed to ensuring every child has the opportunity to benefit from digital learning.
