It also appealed to communities in Bauchi State, to support the company’s efforts to protect power installations across the state.
Bauchi State Operating Officer of the Company, Abubakar Ibrahim who stated this during an interactive session with the members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on power, Science and Technology said, it was not the responsibility of customers to repair faulty transformers, rather, the distribution company.
He said, wherever members of communities were asked to contribute money to repair or replace faulty transformers were wrong, fraudulent and unacceptable.
According to him, Bauchi residents were expected to report to the JED office whenever a transformer was faulty and should not pay any of its officials to repair the transformer.
Abubakar Ibrahim therefore, promised JED readiness to provide uninterrupted power supply in Bauchi State, if its customers would pay electricity bills regularly as well as help report issues of power theft and illegal connections
According to him, JEDC has embarked on massive sensitization on the need for customers to partner with the company to collectively guarantee maximum satisfaction to all stakeholders involved in power distribution in Bauchi franchise.
Abubakar Ibrahim then called on the customers to partner with JEDC in ensuring that their commitment in paying bills and reporting issues of vandalism and other attempts at scuttling power installations are improved for the development of the power sector.
Responding, the Chairman, Bauchi State Assembly Committee on Power, Science and Technology, Alhaji Ahmed Yahaya Maikudi said the state lawmakers, will partner with the power distribution company in various ways to improve power supply, including facilitating direct engagement with the JED for operational improvements, promoting the implementation of the Electricity Act, to resolve local challenges and facilitate community-level projects as well as enhance local supply.
