Dangote Refinery has announced a nationwide reduction in its premium motor spirit retail price, effective Monday, September 15, 2025. The new gantry price stands at ₦820 per litre, with retail prices varying by region.
Regional Price Breakdown:
- Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti: ₦841 per litre (down from ₦860)
- Abuja, Edo, Delta, Rivers, and Kwara: ₦851 per litre (down from ₦885)
This price reduction translates to a ₦19 decrease in Lagos and the South-west, and a ₦34 decrease in Abuja, North Central, and the South-South.
The refinery's direct petrol distribution initiative, initially set to launch on August 15, 2025, will now begin on September 15, 2025. This initiative will utilize 4,000 compressed natural gas trucks to distribute petrol and diesel at zero logistics cost.
However, the price template is not binding on all petroleum marketers and retailers, except for MRS and its distribution partners.
Additionally, NUPENG has threatened to strike against Dangote Group, alleging the company reneged on recent resolutions.
