The minister highlighted that the project is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at improving road networks and train service connectivity across the country. He noted that the project includes the construction of a 750km Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road Corridor, 1,068km Sokoto-Badagry Road, and other major roads.
Umahi commended President Bola Tinubu's administration for its commitment to infrastructure development, particularly in the North-West region. He emphasized that the region has the highest share of infrastructure projects, with Kebbi and Sokoto states benefiting from projects worth over ₦3 trillion.
The minister expressed optimism that the project would be completed within the stipulated period, with the Sokoto axis expected to be finished by the end of 2026. He also commended the contracting firm, Hightech Construction Company Limited, and security agencies for their support in the project's execution.
Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, described the Sokoto-Badagry superhighway as a "game changer" that would attract economic investments and facilitate growth in the region.
