This directive is part of the government's efforts to enhance teachers' professionalism and improve education delivery nationwide.
The Federal Ministry of Education has realigned the TRCN and the National Teachers' Institute (NTI) to achieve this goal.
The NTI will now focus on in-service training and community professional development programs, while the TRCN will regulate and license teachers across the country.
Education Minister, Dr. Maruf Alausa, emphasized that "no teacher will stand before a Nigerian classroom without TRCN registration & licensing".
This measure aims to ensure that all children receive competent and professional teaching.
Additionally, the minister warned that secondary schools must ensure their teachers have proper certification, or risk losing their examination center status.
From 2027, accreditation for public examinations, including WASSCE, NABTEB, NECO, and NBIAS, will be tied to teachers' TRCN certification.
