The Zamfara State Government has denounced the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its baseless and insensitive accusations against Governor Dauda Lawal. The APC alleged that Governor Lawal is "sabotaging" efforts to tackle insecurity in the state.
In a statement, Commissioner for Information and Culture, Hon. Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, exposed the APC's desperation and closeness to bandits. The commissioner highlighted the facts:
Governor Lawal spoke the truth about the state's lack of control over security agencies, which is a constitutional reality. The APC's twist of these words into "complicity with bandits" is irresponsible.
The APC's previous administration in Zamfara wasted billions on failed "peace deals" with criminals, pampering and arming bandits. In contrast, Governor Lawal has distributed over 150 patrol vehicles to security agencies, recruited and equipped thousands of Community Protection Guards, and brought in trained hunters to defend the state.
The APC is playing politics with human tragedy, using innocent citizens' slaughter to attack the governor. This exposes them as merchants of chaos who thrive on Zamfara's suffering.
Governor Lawal's commitment to addressing root causes of violence is unquestionable. His administration provides water, schools, healthcare, and livelihood support to rural communities. The governor advocates for state police, a reform endorsed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The governor's tears are a symbol of courage and empathy, reflecting his frustration as a leader denied the tools to protect his people. The Zamfara State Government calls for international support, solidarity, and technical, logistical, and humanitarian aid to strengthen the state's resilience.
The government assures citizens that no amount of blackmail will distract Governor Lawal from his fight to reclaim Zamfara from bandits and their political sponsors.
