The Zamfara Sector Commander stated that the operation aimed to curb reckless driving and improve road safety. Of the impounded vehicles, 75 were seized after drivers attempted to bribe officials, while 76 others were apprehended for violations like overloading and speeding.
Offenders caught offering bribes will face prosecution for corruption and traffic violations. Plans are underway to establish a mobile court for swift prosecution and stronger deterrence.
Zamfara serves as a major transit route connecting Sokoto, Kebbi, and Niger Republic, complicating traffic enforcement. Many overloaded vehicles passing through the state originate elsewhere, making source tracing difficult.
Motorists were warned to comply with road regulations or face legal consequences, with emphasis on the Corps’ commitment to highway vigilance. The commander also urged road users, transport unions, and stakeholders to collaborate in reducing crashes and promoting safer driving practices.
