Eyewitness Account: "A Case of Mistaken Identity"
A resident told The Telegraph that the attack was carried out "in error," as the Fulani were wrongly accused of the vigilante’s death.
"They attacked the settlement, killing over ten people and injuring others. Search teams are still recovering bodies from the bush," the source said.
Following the incident, Kebbi State Deputy Governor Senator Umar Tafida and leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association visited the area to offer condolences to the victims’ families.
Police Response Pending
Kebbi State Police Command spokesperson CSP Nafiu Abubakar stated he was unaware of the incident but pledged to investigate. No official statement had been released by press time.
The attack underscores escalating communal tensions in Kebbi and neighboring states, where banditry and farmer-herder conflicts continue to fuel cycles of violence.
