Matawalle Grieves Loss of Prominent Islamic Scholar Sheikh Bauchi

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammad Matawalle, MON, has expressed profound shock and sadness over the passing of the revered Islamic scholar and Supreme Leader of the Tijjaniyyah sect in Nigeria, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi. The cleric passed away in the early hours of Thursday, November 27, 2025.

In a statement signed by his Personal Assistant on Media, Ahmad Dan-Wudil, Minister Matawalle extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Ministry of Defence to the family of the late Sheikh, the Muslim Ummah, and the global Tijjaniyyah community. He described Sheikh Bauchi as a remarkable leader who dedicated his life to the service of Islam, fostering peace, unity, and harmony among people.

The Minister acknowledged the Sheikh’s enduring legacy, noting that his contributions to religious scholarship and community development were widely celebrated and would continue to inspire generations. He urged mourners to take solace in the cleric’s exemplary life and enduring impact.

“May Allah grant Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Jannat al-Firdous for his unwavering service to the Deen and humanity,” Matawalle prayed.
