In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu highlighted Sheikh Bauchi’s monumental contributions to Nigeria’s spiritual and moral fabric. The late Sheikh, a foremost leader of the Tijjaniyya Muslim Brotherhood, was celebrated for his advocacy of peace, moderation, and Quranic scholarship.
“Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi was a teacher, a father, and a voice of reason. His passing leaves a void not only for his family and followers but for the entire nation,” the President said. He recalled the late cleric’s moral support during the 2023 election campaign, emphasizing his role as a unifying figure.
President Tinubu extended condolences to Sheikh Bauchi’s global followers, urging them to honor his legacy by upholding his teachings on peaceful coexistence, devotion to God, and compassion for humanity.
Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, known for his Quranic exegesis and interfaith dialogue, was laid to rest in Bauchi amid an outpouring of tributes from religious and political leaders across Nigeria. His death marks the end of an era for Islamic scholarship in the country.
