“A Legacy Honoured”: Tinubu Names Federal University After Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi

President Bola Tinubu has renamed the Federal University of Medical Sciences in Azare, Bauchi State, to Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi University in honor of the late Islamic scholar. The announcement was made during a condolence visit to the cleric's family in Bauchi. Tinubu described the renaming as a way to immortalize Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi's contributions to humanity and religious scholarship, calling his death a "great national loss." He praised the scholar's humility, selfless service, and dedication to Islam and peace, praying for Allah's mercy and his admission into Jannatul Firdaus.

Sheikh Ibrahim Usman Bauchi, the eldest son of the late cleric, expressed gratitude to Tinubu for the visit and the honor bestowed on his father. Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed also thanked the President for recognizing Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi's legacy.

Tinubu was accompanied by several top government officials, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni. The President arrived at Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, where he was received with a guard of honor before proceeding to the condolence visit. The gesture was part of Tinubu's efforts to commiserate with the family and followers of the influential scholar, whose impact extended beyond Nigeria.
