Aisha Buhari criticized the administration’s failure to remove underperforming officials, warning Tinubu against repeating the same mistake. She described Aso Villa as an ecosystem filled with relatives, courtiers, and staff who sought control, asserting her right to her home.
She explained that Buhari’s reluctance to act stemmed from aging, fear of being labeled a dictator, and emotional manipulation by aides. This hesitation allowed mediocrity to thrive, with failing officials retained under the guise of familiarity. Aisha advocated for removing those who delivered no results while tolerating partial performers.
She also recounted how security officials once urged her to leave Abuja to allow investigations into close associates, which she refused. Later, Buhari reportedly withdrew emotionally, speaking and eating less. Even after leaving office, he allegedly asked Tinubu not to probe certain kinsmen, highlighting the risks of emotional dependence in leadership.
