The Public Relations Officer of FMC Gusau disclosed that the contract was awarded to Gateway International Nigeria Limited for the construction of 26 one-bedroom apartments. The contractor was mobilized to the site in September 2025, with completion expected within one year. The Zamfara State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development is supervising the project.
Each self-contained unit will include a kitchen, dining area, and restroom. The one-storey building will have 13 units on the ground floor and 13 on the upper floor. Construction has progressed steadily, moving from the substructure to the superstructure, now at the lintel level. The contractor has assured compliance with standard specifications and approved designs.
FMC Gusau’s management described the intervention as unprecedented, noting it is the first state government project of such magnitude for the centre. The Medical Director expressed gratitude to the governor for fulfilling a promise made during a January 2025 courtesy visit, where the hospital requested support, including a utility vehicle, doctors’ quarters, and efforts to fast-track the centre’s conversion into a teaching hospital.
The Head of Clinical Services highlighted that the proximity of doctors’ residences to clinical areas will improve emergency response times, patient safety, and care quality. The project underscores the Zamfara State Government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare by supporting medical personnel at FMC Gusau.
