A reliable party source disclosed that the committee aims to foster broader opposition collaboration, not limited to any single party. This move coincides with reports that ADC is courting key figures like Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), who recently expressed openness to joining an opposition coalition if offered a presidential or vice-presidential ticket.
However, ADC insiders clarified that while the party welcomes Kwankwaso, it cannot guarantee him either ticket. Instead, discussions focus on integrating his support base into an inclusive government with shared roles like ministerial or legislative positions. ADC’s leadership, including National Chairman Senator David Mark, is expected to meet Kwankwaso soon to negotiate terms.
The ADC, which became a coalition hub for opposition leaders in 2025, has attracted high-profile defectors like Rotimi Amaechi, Atiku Abubakar, and Peter Obi. A party source emphasized that ADC seeks to unseat the ruling APC through unity but will not make unrealistic promises.
Meanwhile, NNPP’s spokesperson confirmed ongoing consultations but declined to name ADC as a partner, stating Kwankwaso’s decisions would prioritize the Kwankwasiyya movement and national interest. ADC’s spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi reiterated the party’s commitment to expanding its membership and ousting the APC.
