The victims returned safely to Tsafe on Tuesday, thanks to coordinated efforts by security forces and local leaders. The initial attack took place on January 20 in Danjibga village, sparking a bloody clash between the bandits and community defense groups.
Tragically, the confrontation resulted in the deaths of one member of the Community Protection Guard (CPG) and two villagers. Two others suffered gunshot injuries. Witnesses reported that the attackers also burned four vehicles—two Golf cars and two Mitsubishi Canter trucks—during the assault.
While the freed captives have reunited with their families, concerns remain over an unconfirmed number of women and children still held by the bandits. The released individuals and the wounded were taken to Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau for medical treatment.
The community expressed mixed emotions—relief at the returnees’ safety but grief for those lost in the violence.
In a separate incident, bandits struck again in Bakura Local Government Area, killing 22-year-old farmer Burhama Sani. He was shot dead on his farm near the Bakura–Rabah road after attackers blocked the Fadamma area and torched two trucks carrying food supplies.
