The Zamfara State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, led by the Honourable Commissioner Lawal Barau Bungudu, has formed a technical committee in partnership with the Ministry for Local Government, Ministry for Housing, Zamfara Geographic Information System, Anka Local Government Council, the Anka Emirate Council, and security agencies. The committee’s task is to locate an appropriate site for building an airstrip in Anka Local Government Area.
To fulfill this mandate, the ministry sent a technical team to Anka to conduct thorough field inspections, engage with stakeholders, and perform technical evaluations in compliance with planning, safety, and regulatory requirements.
According to a statement obtained by The Spectacles from the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure’s Information Officer, Jamilu Bello, said the committee’s assignment is ongoing, and upon completion, a suitable site will be recommended for the proposed project.
The committee is chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engineer Haruna Dikko, while the Director of Civil Engineering, Engineer Amiru Musa Anka, leads the fieldwork and serves as the committee’s secretary, providing professional guidance and technical expertise.
This effort reflects the Zamfara State Government’s commitment, under Governor Dauda Lawal’s leadership, to improve transportation links, bolster security operations, and support sustainable socio-economic growth in the state.
