Ganduje arrived at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Saturday evening via an Emirates flight and was scheduled to travel to Abuja later that night. His return signals the start of high-level consultations within the APC, particularly regarding recent political shifts in Kano. According to a statement by his former Chief of Staff, Mohammed Garba, Ganduje will engage in meetings with party leaders and stakeholders to assess the evolving political situation.
Additionally, Ganduje is expected to participate in the APC’s ongoing nationwide electronic membership registration drive, an initiative he introduced during his tenure as party chairman. The program aims to digitize and streamline the party’s membership records for better internal planning and transparency.
Meanwhile, Governor Yusuf’s potential defection has caused divisions among supporters of the Kwankwasiyya movement, a political faction led by former Kano governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. While some view Yusuf’s move as strategically beneficial, Kwankwaso has publicly rejected the idea. Despite internal disagreements, sources close to the government insist Yusuf’s switch to the APC is imminent and could significantly influence the political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections.
