Governor Uba Sani announced on Wednesday that 82 of the abducted individuals have been safely reunited with their families. However, security insiders revealed that the actual number rescued exceeds 100, including vulnerable groups like children and infants. The operation was a meticulously planned effort combining intelligence from the DSS, ONSA, and state-backed security forces.
Earlier, 11 victims had managed to escape or were released, leaving 166 in captivity before this latest breakthrough. Governor Sani visited the survivors at the Women and Children Shelter in Kaduna, where they are receiving medical care and trauma counseling. He expressed deep sympathy for their ordeal and reassured the Kurmin Wali community that authorities are working tirelessly to secure the release of those still held.
The governor remained hopeful that the remaining captives would be freed soon, vowing to intensify efforts to eradicate banditry in Kaduna. He praised the security agencies for their bravery and efficiency, emphasizing that the state would spare no resources to protect its citizens.
The incident has reignited concerns over rising insecurity in the region, with calls for stronger measures to prevent future attacks. Community leaders and residents have appealed for sustained military presence and better intelligence-gathering to curb the menace of kidnappings.
