The orientation programme, which commenced on Monday, 23rd February and ended on Friday, 27th February, 2025, was designed to formally integrate the cadets into the academic and professional culture of the Academy. The event provided a comprehensive introduction to the structure, expectations, and operational standards of the institution.
During the programme, the cadets were introduced to senior officers from both the Professional Wing and the Academic Wing of the Academy. They had interactive sessions with the Commandant, the Academy Provost, the Academy Registrar, the Commissioner of Police (Courses and Training), the Dean of Cadet Affairs, Head of the department of guidance and counseling, and others. These sessions offered valuable insights into the academic curriculum, professional training requirements, and the ethical standards expected of future officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
In his address to the cadets, AIG Patrick A. Atayero emphasized discipline, integrity, and strict adherence to the Academy’s Code of Conduct. He reminded them that “many were called, but few were chosen,” urging the cadets to consider themselves privileged and to make the most of the rare opportunity granted to them. He cautioned that any cadet who steps outside the established rules and regulations would face appropriate sanctions in line with the Academy’s Code of Conduct.
The cadets were also taken on guided tours of the Academy’s facilities and were lectured on strategies for academic excellence, leadership development, and professional success. They were encouraged to remain focused, resilient, and committed to achieving their dream of becoming commissioned officers in the Nigeria Police Force.
In line with the Commandant’s strong commitment to the fight against drug abuse and his zero-tolerance stance on illicit substances, the Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), led by DCN Maimuna Mohammad Garba, was invited to deliver a lecture on the war against drug abuse. The session addressed the dangers, implications, and far-reaching consequences of drug abuse, reinforcing the Academy’s commitment to producing disciplined and morally upright officers.
The colourful and impactful programme concluded with the Commandant congratulating the cadets on their successful admission. He charged them to utilize the opportunity responsibly by abiding strictly by the Academy’s rules and regulations, reiterating that discipline, hard work, and integrity remain the cornerstones of success within the Academy and the Nigeria Police Force at large.
The Nigeria Police Academy remains steadfast in its mandate to train, educate, and develop competent officers equipped to meet contemporary security challenges and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and service to the nation.
