The decision came during the first plenary session after the year-end break, signaling a fresh commitment to effective governance.
Lawmakers unanimously endorsed nine strategic initiatives designed to streamline operations and strengthen oversight. Central to these reforms are plans to draft a new Legislative Agenda for the Seventh Assembly, create an oversight calendar, and develop a manual to guide committee activities.
The House also prioritized pushing for the approval of the Public Expenditure Bill and setting up two new offices: the Zamfara Budget Research Office (ZABRO) and a liaison desk for Civil Society Organizations to foster collaboration.
Additional measures include mandating ministries and agencies to submit updated assets registers, amending the Assembly Service Commission Law to incorporate an ICT department, and organizing specialized training for staff.
The Public Accounts Committee will also receive targeted capacity-building support to improve fiscal oversight.
Majority Leader Bello Mazawajje Tsafe, who championed the motion, emphasized that these steps are vital for improving service delivery and driving development across Zamfara.
Speaker Moriki, presiding over the session, confirmed the dissolution of existing committees and assured that new ones would be reconstituted soon. The reforms are expected to foster greater accountability and institutional effectiveness in the state’s legislative processes.
