Checks across several MDAs indicate that while a limited number of staff confirmed receipt of the wage award, the majority say they are still waiting for the disbursement. The development has triggered concerns over what many workers describe as “selective payment,” particularly as the week draws to a close.
Some affected workers expressed worry that the approaching weekend could further delay the process, as government payment systems and administrative operations typically slow down during non-working days.
The ₦35,000 wage award, which forms part of the Federal Government’s interim measures to cushion the effects of economic hardship pending the full implementation of the new national minimum wage, was expected to be paid to federal workers across MDAs.
However, the uneven disbursement has left many workers uncertain about when their payments will be processed.
Several civil servants who spoke on the condition of anonymity said they remain hopeful that the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation will complete the payment to all eligible workers without further delay.
As anticipation continues to build, workers are closely monitoring developments, hoping the outstanding payments will be credited before the weekend or early next week to avoid prolonged delays.
