The Executive Governor Of State, Has Inaugurated The Adamawa State Peace, Conflict Resolution, And Social Integration Commission. The Commission Was Established Under Adamawa State Law No. 14 Of 2020 And Is Mandated To Proactively Promote Peace, Prevent Conflicts, And Mediate Communal And Inter-ethnic Disputes Across The State.
As Part Of The Implementation Of This Initiative, The Local Government Peace Committee For The Mubi Zone Was Inaugurated Today At The Mubi North Council Chamber. The Event Brought Together Representatives From And Local Government Areas.
The Secretary To Mubi South Local Government, Hon. Mustapha Sajoh, Who Serves As The Vice Chairman Of The Local Government Peace Committee, Attended The Inauguration Alongside Others Members Of The Committee.
This Development Fulfills A Key Promise Made By Governor Fintiri During The 2019 Election Campaign, Particularly To Address The Security Concerns Of Communities Within That Experienced Devastating Farmer-herder Conflicts In 2017 And 2018.
The Commission Comprises A 19 Member Team Made Up Of Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, Youth Representatives, Farmers, Pastoralists, And Government Officials. Notable Members included HRH Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke, Hama Bata, Who Serves As The Part-time Chairman, And Dr. Jamila Suleiman, A Seasoned Conflict Resolution Expert, Who Serves As The Executive Vice Chairman.
The Establishment Of The Commission Signals A New Chapter In Adamawa State’s Efforts To Institutionalise Peacebuilding, Promote Dialogue, And Bridge Divides Among Communities.
The Commission’s Core Objectives Include:
• Mediating inter-communal disputes
• Designing and implementing peace-building initiatives
• Promoting social integration programs, particularly in conflict-prone areas
• Fostering unity, justice, and lasting peace across the state.
