In a statement showing by Mansur M. Haruna, Director General, New Media Team, Office of Senator Kabir Garba Marafa said the meeting, which brought together representatives from all 147 wards and members of the State Executive Council of the Marafa Support Group, focused on assessing the stability and future of the party in the state.
In his welcome address, the Chairman, Alhaji Surajo Garba Mai Katako, outlined the purpose of the gathering and subsequently invited the Secretary and Chairman of the Nine-Member Committee, Malam Aminu Jelani, to present a report on engagements held with ADC stakeholders.
Malam Aminu Jelani highlighted concerns over alleged lack of transparency within the party and accused certain elements, reportedly linked to factions within the All Progressives Congress (APC), of orchestrating internal disruptions aimed at destabilizing the ADC in Zamfara State. According to him, these actions were intended to undermine Senator Marafa and his supporters.
It will be recalled that Senator Marafa and his political associates exited the APC following internal disagreements. Their subsequent decision to join the ADC was made after extensive consultations, upon invitation by the party’s leadership in Zamfara State.
However, stakeholders at the meeting expressed dissatisfaction with recent developments within the ADC, citing what they described as irregularities and external interference that could jeopardize the party’s integrity and cohesion.
Following extensive deliberations, participants unanimously resolved to withdraw from the ADC and explore affiliation with a more stable and transparent political platform. The meeting further empowered Senator Marafa and key stakeholders to determine the next political direction.
In addition, the Chairman directed the Nine-Member Committee to proceed to Kaduna to formally convey the resolution of the stakeholders to Senator Marafa and to remain in consultation until a new political platform is identified.
The stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to unity, transparency, and the political advancement of their constituents.
