In a daring joint operation, security forces have successfully rescued the abducted family members of the Secretary to the Zamfara State Government (SSG), Malam Mohammed Abubakar Nakwada. The victims, comprising Sadiya Nakwada, Aisha Nakwada, and Abubakar Dan Fulani, were kidnapped on July 27, 2025.
The rescue operation was carried out by a combined team of the Zamfara State Police Command's tactical teams and the Force Intelligence Department's Special Tactical Squad (FID STS) based at Force Headquarters in Abuja. The operation resulted in the arrest of five suspects in connection with the abduction.
The arrested suspects, all residents of Mareri area in Damba District, Gusau Local Government Area, have been identified as Hamza Umar, Abubakar Abdullahi, Aisha Umar, Mohammed Ibrahim, and Igeh Mohammed.
According to sources, the rescued victims have been taken to a hospital in Gusau for medical treatment and are expected to be reunited with their family shortly. The successful rescue operation is a significant breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and banditry in Zamfara State.
