Zamfara: Over 100 Terrorists Neutralized in Makakkari Forest

In a decisive operation, the Nigerian military has dealt a significant blow to armed banditry in the North, neutralizing more than 100 terrorists in a coordinated air and ground assault on Makakkari Forest, Bukuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The operation, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, was the culmination of weeks of intelligence gathering by operatives of Operation FANSAN YANMA. Surveillance had revealed that over 400 armed fighters, led by notorious kingpins, had converged on Makakkari Forest, planning to attack Nasarawan Burkullu, a farming community in Bukuyum LGA.
The military operation commenced with precision airstrikes on identified bandit clusters, guided by reconnaissance drones. Explosions ripped through the forest, destroying dozens of fighters and their motorcycles. Ground assault teams then intercepted those who attempted to flee, ensuring no escape.

According to military sources, the operation demonstrated remarkable synergy between the air and land components, making it a model of joint-force efficiency. Operation FANSAN YANMA has vowed to sustain the pressure, targeting not only fighters hidden in the bush but also the wider networks that fund and supply them.

The operation is seen as a significant victory in the fight against banditry, which has plagued the region for years. The military's efforts to dismantle the networks that support banditry are expected to have a lasting impact on the security of the region.

As the military continues to intensify its operations against banditry, the people of Zamfara State and the surrounding regions can expect a safer and more secure environment. The operation in Makakkari Forest is a testament to the military's commitment to protecting citizens and restoring peace to the region.
