Governor Nasir Idris gave his approval on Thursday, and the letter of appointment was presented to the new emir in Zuru by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Umar Dutsin-Mari.
According to Dutsin-Mari, the selection process was conducted by the Zuru Emirate kingmakers, who screened three candidates before recommending Alhaji Sanusi Mika'ilu Sami to the governor. Sami emerged as the new emir after securing the highest number of votes.
"The appointment is in line with the will of the people and the recommendation of the election committee," Dutsin-Mari stated. "We urge the new emir to justify the confidence reposed in him and rule with fairness, justice, and the fear of God."
The commissioner expressed gratitude to Governor Idris for swiftly approving the appointment and advised the new traditional ruler to preserve the legacies of his late predecessor.
