Tunji-Ojo revealed that the ministry has cleared a long-standing backlog of promotions, with over 50,000 officers promoted in the last two years. He emphasized that future promotions will be based on capacity and performance, ensuring merit-driven career progression.
Additionally, the minister announced that new training manuals have been developed for officers, and work has commenced on the construction of a world-class Fire Academy, designed to compete with leading global institutions.
Prioritizing Mental Health and Partnerships
Tunji-Ojo underscored the importance of officer well-being, assuring that the ministry is prioritizing mental health support in the workplace. He also charged the Federal Fire Service and other agencies under the ministry to embrace public-private partnerships, stressing that such collaborations are critical to improving service delivery, modernizing firefighting operations, and driving infrastructure development.
